More info

The charro button has become a well known symbol of Salamanca and it can be seen in many pieces of jewelry and typical clothing of the region, like the dashing Spanish capas. The origin of the charro button is a bit of a mistery. Is it a Celtic representation of the solar disk? Is it an ornament of Jewish origin? We have studied the Celtic symbology where numbers three and four reign without discussion, and we believe the second option is more accurate. The number ten, which is repeated twice in the typical charro button, probably represents the ten sefirots or ten creative forces that intervened in the creation of the world.

The charro button design could be thus based in the Kabbalah Tree of life. Smaller charro buttons have only eigth spheres, such in this case, but the traditional one has always ten spheres. We think this is a beautiful and plausible explanation of the origin of this nice charro ornament.
