Damascene is a decorative technique that comes from the Sirian city of Damask. It is a laborious job of embedding gold and silver threads and leafs on a steel base. This craft was imported to the Iberian Península by the Arabs. Toledo was the place where damascene had more success.Nowdays craftmen continue making all kind of goods decorated with it, both mechanically or by hand.
