Esparto soplillos or panerillos are the most ancient way to get rid of flies and heat in the Iberian Peninsula. Fans came to Europe from China in the XV th century, but ventalls, (from the Spanish word: viento; wind), soplillos, or panerillos, are as old as botijos and wineskins.
